Elvia Design System

Telenor is a Norwegian telecommunications company, listed as one of the largest companies in Norway. After merging with TV company Canal Digital, the work began with investigating how to best cater to the newly unlocked TV needs of their large user base.

The concept T-We gives customers access to a streaming portal that enables a range of smart TV solutions. The project was launched in the autumn of 2019 and is still a success to this date.

Personal TV selection.

It was established early on that the goal was to create a solution that could live up to the modern expectations of TV viewing – where streaming services and online content would become a big part.

However, we wanted to stay open minded in how that solution would work, and set up the process with many iterations of design sprints to quickly create concepts to test with users. This way, we made sure to not stay too far off our users’ mental models, and could quickly incorporate their user needs and feedback we found along the way.

The user tests were carried out in multiple iterations during the project and were mapped up to user group personas based in current user research, to make sure we align new features to current customers, as well as find room for new markets. The touch points of this new service included everything from initial markering to installation of new TV boxes, so effective iterations were a must.

The point module concept was developed after hearing the wishes from users about more flexibility in content selection. This concept let the users buy a TV package with a set of points for themselves to distribute between content – TV channels, packages and streaming services.

As a new middle point in Telenor’s internet-, telephone-, and now TV users, T-We needed to be fully integrated to already established services, while simultaneously standing out as something new. The final product: an online tool for TV point distribution picks up both the styleset of Telenor branding and the established guidelines of the TV box interface.

Entertainment in one place.

T-We launched in the fall of 2019, online and across TV boxes.
